After the post holidays return to school we started a new kind of activity: I met three students in Zagreb's main square (Trg Josipa Jelačića) for a little photography workshop. The first thing to do was introducing them to the basic rules of photography composition, so I gave them a few tips about the rule of thirds, about the use of patterns, layering and frame in frame in the picture, and I suggested that they should move to find different perspectives on the various subjects that caught their interest, and (perhaps most importantly) that they should trust their guts while taking photographs; I supported the explanation by showing them a few examples of those trips in practice in some of my own pictures. The students have been really nice in listening to me and my instructions and suggestions; but even more importantly they have successfully managed to get good images, and (the most important thing from my point of view) their progress from the first pictures they got to the latest was noticeable, despite the limit given by the short time available in the workshop.
