My first weeks in Zagreb were pretty full-on, but in a good way. I got to try lots of new things, and it was really exciting. I'm really impressed by the city's energy so far, and I've already met some inspiring people.
In the first few days, I got to know the city centre and the high school, which gave me the chance to get to know life here. It was really exciting to visit the school gardens—I was pretty impressed by everything already growing there, from fresh vegetables to aromatic herbs cultivated by the students. I also had the chance to show a group of high school students what my home country, Germany, is like with a presentation, which was a great experience.
It was great to get to know everyone at the daycare centre. Working with clay was a whole new ball game for me. It was a great way to unwind and have a good chat with the others.
I had a great time at the multicultural evening at Oaza that Sofia took me to. I was impressed by the mix of people and cultures there. I got to know the other volunteers a bit, and it was interesting to hear their stories and realise that even though our experiences were different, we were still connected in some ways.
The weekend was the perfect chance to enjoy nature and art. I got to experience the city from a green perspective at the Floraart event, with its impressive flower arrangements, creative garden designs and relaxed atmosphere.
I've really enjoyed my time here, and I'm looking forward to seeing what other adventures Zagreb has in store for me!
