Recently, together with high school students, we visited Bundek Park, where we met two trainers from Outward Bound Hrvatska (an organization that runs outdoor experiential learning programs in nature).
At the beginning, we introduced ourselves, then lined up alphabetically by our names, which was already a fun way to break the ice and get to know each other.
After that, we did some simple warm-up games to become more relaxed and connected as a group.
Then we moved on to the main activities. We were divided into teams and one team had to carefully walk along a rope stretched between two trees, trying to keep balance and support each other. Participants of another team at the same time took turns holding onto a rope and using it to swing themselves across to a marked area, one by one, until the whole group completed the exercise.
Later, we practiced basic orientation and navigation skills in nature, which helped us understand how to move in an unfamiliar environment. We also played a very dynamic and funny group game that required quick reactions and coordination.
In addition, we had another activity where we took turns running across a spinning rope, both individually and as a team, which was challenging but very exciting.
Even though all the instructions and communication were in Croatian, I was able to understand almost everything thanks to the similarities with Ukrainian and the experience I’ve gained during my three months here.
I was quite tired by the end, but I felt very inspired and full of positive energy from the teamwork, the shared time and the support we showed to one another during all the activities. :)
